Solar powered shower block
Turasha Boarding school in Kenya is a mixed day and boarding school found in Nyandarua County. They are under a large amount of pressure due to lack of government funding and intake pressures, which has seen many of their facilities – particularly their shower blocks – being at breaking point. Over 600 young people use these showers on a daily basis, showers that were housed in dilapidated buildings and only provided cold water.
The solution – solar powered shipping containers. These will house the new shower blocks, using the power of the sun to heat the water and provide a far more hygienic solution. By using local suppliers and contractors, we are able to ensure that this project isn’t just benefiting the school but also the local economy.
