Hello and welcome to Power2Africa

Did you know that there are around 1billion people living without access to electricity? To put that number into perspective, that’s the entire population of the UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Australia and Russia… COMBINED!

This is unacceptable and something needs to change, quickly!

Access to power is a privilege. It opens up a world of possibilities, including education, employment and even basic health care. Our projects don’t just provide electricity to rural communities, they transform lives for the better.

For us, delivering electricity is just the beginning. Once the projects are up and running, we offer a mentoring programme to pass on knowledge and provide guidance that can inspire them to do everything from finishing school to starting their own online freelancing business.

For us, empowerment is the end goal.

Since being launched in 2017, Power2Africa has already given hundreds of people access to clean power by providing solar powered shower blocks for a boarding school and building an internet cafe to give the local community free access to computers and the internet.

How does Power2Africa work?

We wanted to flip the way charities are run on its head.

Taking a percentage of every £1 donated doesn’t seem right. Instead, we charge a flat annual membership fee of £1,000 to cover the running and expansion of Power2Africa. Each member then buys a minimum of £1,500 in credits which are spent entirely on projects in Africa.

Why did we choose to operate like this? Well, running in this way means that we can be completely transparent with where your money is spent and not penalising large donations with a percentage taken.

We do accept individual and one-off donations, you can also contribute to P2A with both a donation and awareness through the purchase of five (or more!) of our P2A t-shirts.

100% of funds spent in Africa*

Yes, you read that right. Not only do we ensure that 100% of credits are spent on the projects, but we go the extra mile to empower businesses working in the local community by ensuring that local services and products are used wherever possible. Obviously, if the resources can’t be locally sourced or if it doesn’t make economic sense we will make exceptions but, on the whole, we spend all donations within Africa.

What are you waiting for>? Power2Africa membership is open to companies across the world to come together to support families and communities in Africa. There really is no downside to becoming a member! If you know of a project that could be supported through P2A then get in touch and let us know about it.
